Donor Project Coordination Meeting Facilitates Collaborative Solutions for Climate Action

Around 150 representatives of donor projects together with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine gathered during the first coordination meeting dedicated to climate action organized by the Ukrainian Climate Office. The event served as a platform for in-depth discussions on ongoing projects, initiatives, and strategic measures across various critical areas in climate sector.

Around 150 representatives of donor projects together with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine gathered during the first coordination meeting dedicated to climate action organized by the Ukrainian Climate Office. The event served as a platform for in-depth discussions on ongoing projects, initiatives, and strategic measures across various critical areas in climate sector.

Participants discussed the development of strategic documents, cross-sectoral coordination of climate-related initiatives, and the implementation of the Emission Trading Scheme. Working groups actively identified gaps in existing initiatives, and participants collectively addressed further needs, providing valuable recommendations for the future.

One of the focal points of the meeting was the commitment to supporting regional development through capacity building in climate-related topics. This included initiatives such as the development of bankable projects, promoting green recovery strategies, and fostering climate and war-resilient recovery and adaptation measures.

Working groups actively identified gaps in current initiatives, and participants collectively addressed further needs, providing valuable recommendations for the future. A comprehensive summary report encapsulating the outcomes of the meeting, along with presentations, will be made available shortly.

The event marked a collaborative effort to propel climate action forward, underscoring the commitment of the participants towards achieving sustainable and resilient outcomes in the face of Ukraine’s green reconstruction. The insights gained from the meeting are expected to inform and guide future initiatives in the pursuit of a greener and more sustainable country.

The participants agreed to continue this initiative and move forward the climate agenda to support green reconstruction as well as help building up climate architecture in Ukraine.

The event was organized by the Ukrainian Climate Office within Capacities for Climate Action project that is co-financed by EU and German government via the International Climate Initiative and implemented by GIZ.
