Description

UNDP is on the ground in about 170 countries and territories, working to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. UNDP helps countries to develop strong policies, skills, partnerships and institutions.

UNDP supports Ukraine in developing legislation on sustainable energy and environmental issues, monitors policy impact, and raises awareness of the government and general public about the urgency of environmental action. (Project “Nature-based Solutions for Sustainable Cities.”)
UNDP’s programs in Ukraine include development of large scale biomass boilers deployment, support of financing of energy efficiency measures in industry and the ESCO mechanism roll out.
UNDP supports Ukraine in meeting the provisions of the Montreal Protocol and implementing local-level climate-change mitigation measures.

In Ukraine, UNDP focuses on advancing energy efficiency measures in public buildings (HOUSES project) through the ESCO modality, and increasing the use of sustainable agricultural biomass as a fuel for municipal heating.

Other UNDP projects:

  • Supporting green recovery in Ukraine:
    1) improved legal framework on the national level for a better green transformation of the economic and financial relations,
    2) reduced transaction costs on the green finance market; and
    3) better evaluation and management of the climate-related risks on the corporate level.
  • Supporting implementation of the 2030 Agenda and sustainable development goals (SDGs)
  • Support to the Parliament on sustainable energy and environment

Since outbreak of the war UNDP implements Resiliencz building and recoverz programme, which consists of:
