Description
The World Bank Group is an international organization providing financing, policy advice, and technical assistance to governments, focusing on strengthening the private sector in developing countries.
The World Bank Group consists of five organizations:
- International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)
- International Finance Corporation (IFC)
- International Development Association (IDA)
- Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)
- International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID)
The World Bank is the second largest creditor of Ukraine after the IMF. Over the years of cooperation, the World Bank has approved 70 loans for Ukraine with a total volume of more than US 14.4 bn and EUR 2.1 bn. These financial resources are used to support the state budget, implement institutional and structural reforms, prepare and implement long-term investment projects that correspond to the priority areas of economic development of Ukraine.
As of November 1, 2022, the ІBRD project portfolio consists of 21 projects, of which 18 investment projects are at the stage of implementation and 3 system projects, for a total amount of USD 3.6 bn and EUR 2.1 bn.
Currently, the District Heating Energy Efficiency Project is being implemented with the funding in the amount of USD 382 mn.
To improve the quality and efficiency of water, wastewater, and solid waste services in selected cities in Ukraine and address speci fic emergency communal services needs affected by the war.
