Second Power Transmission Project

The Second Power Transmission Project in Ukraine aims to improve the reliability of the power transmission system and support the implementation of the Wholesale Electricity Market in Ukraine.

Key Components:

• Rehabilitation of Transmission Substations – Upgrading outdated high-voltage equipment, installing gas-insulated switchgear, and modernizing substation control systems.
• Electricity Market Enhancement (reactive power compensation for high-voltage substations, smart grid implementation to modernize communication between renewable energy sources and control centers, balancing market support through advanced hardware and software, institutional development for the system operator, including management system improvements, training, and technical assistance).
