Description

The aim of the Nefco Green Recovery Programme for Ukraine is to pave the way for a green and sustainable reconstruction of the country. Through various initiatives, the programme is providing financial support and technical assistance to municipalities to address both direct and indirect consequences of the war.

Financial support can be used to conduct repairs and rebuild municipal infrastructure in an environmentally sound way, accommodate internally displaced persons (IDPs) and build capacity for designing Local Green Recovery Plans.

The programme contributes to a green economy and energy transition in the recovery process.

As part of the program, investment grants (maybe later there will also be soft loans) and technical assistance for the implementation of green restoration projects in 30-50 communities in the controlled territories of Ukraine. Donors of the program are the EU, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

NEFCO is an international financial institution that finances the initial scale-up of Nordic green solutions on international markets.

NEFCO is one of the few international organizations working with communities and small towns in Ukraine.
Ukraine is the most important country of activity of NEFCO, in which a significant number of “”green”” projects have been implemented in the private and public sectors.

NEFCO’s portfolio in Ukraine currently consists of 255 projects, of which 151 projects have already been implemented, with the total amount of investments in the implemented projects of more than 230 million euros, including EUR 26 mn of grant funds.

NEFCO is the key enabler of investment into small scale investment projects implemented by Ukrainian communities in the areas of heat supply, energy efficiency, wastewater treatment, and street lighting.
