German-Ukrainian energy partnership secretariat
Description
The project “Secretariat of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership” supports the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) and the German Energy Agency (dena) in the implementation of the Energy Partnership (EP) between Germany and Ukraine.
The Energy Partnership was launched in the end of August 2020 to create a platform for the new level of dialogue and cooperation between both countries in the spheres of energy transformation, climate policy and sustainable development. The EP consolidates cooperation on the topics connected to energy efficiency, renewable energy, hydrogen development, coal transformation and decarbonization. It provides the general framework for political dialogue in energy sector on both sides to make cooperation on energy and climate issues even more effective.
After the outbreak of full-scale war GIZ is responsible for coordination of donation and procurement campaigns as well as the logistical chain for deliveries under the Secretariat of the German-Ukrainian Energy partnership and on behalf of BMWK. Secretariat receives donation offers from companies and lists of needs in energy related equipment from MinEnergo, conducts matchmaking, supports approval processes and organizes the delivery process. Local partner NGO GoLocal is providing logistical support and carries out deliveries to end-users. General political coordination is conducted by Co-Heads of the Secretariat from Ukrainian and German sides.
