Description

The project Low Carbon Ukraine (LCU), started in September 2018, is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag. It is implemented by BE Berlin Economics GmbH.

The purpose of the LCU project is to support the Ukrainian government to pursue an active, effective and above all sustainable energy and climate policy. The assistance aims to enhance policy processes along three dimensions: long-term-orientation, consistency and factbasis. The ultimate goal of the policy advice is to trigger policy decisions that imply a lower emission-pathway. A stable and sustainable energy policy is linked to sustainable economic growth, a resilient infrastructure and sustainable industrialisation.

Complementarities and synergies (examples)

Cooperation related to implementation of strategic documents and modelling exercises related to climate. As LCU is supporting NECP finalization with DiXi group and MinEconomy, synergies can be created.
