The Ukrainian Climate Office / C4CA Project together with the Resource and Analysis Center “Society and Environment” invite representatives of governmental, non-governmental and international organizations, scientific and educational institutions, donor organizations interested in climate change to an online presentation and discussion of the results of the study of public opinion on climate change. The event will take place online on August 02, 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00 (Kyiv time)/09:00-11:00 CET. Simultaneous Ukrainian-English translation will be provided during the event.
Context: Climate issues in Ukraine are becoming more and more important in Ukraine: they are being discussed at the highest political level, and Ukrainians are experiencing the impact of climate change in their daily lives. Scientific research confirms the key impacts of climate change on agriculture, water resources, public health, ecosystems, energy, and infrastructure.
Effective implementation of climate policy requires proper communication efforts from public authorities, international institutions, and civil society organizations, which, in turn, requires research on what ordinary people know about climate change, whether they feel its impacts and the need for climate change adaptation, what personal climate practices they perform, what they think about certain government measures in the field of climate policy, etc.
The event aims to present the results of a public opinion survey conducted by the Sociological Research Company “SociOinform” in April 2024 in all regions of Ukraine, except for those under occupation, сommissioned by the “Capacities for Climate Action” project Ukrainian Climate Office), implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) within the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and co-funded by the European Union, to address the above mentioned concerns.
Ukrainian Climate Office serves as a hub of climate excellence, addressing cross-sectoral climate challenges and promoting sustainability in Ukraine.
The event was organized by the Ukrainian Climate Office within the framework of the Capacities for Climate Action (C4CA) project, implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) within the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and co-financed by the European Union, in cooperation with the Resource and Analysis Center “Society and Environment”.
