Organizer: Capacities for Climate Action Project

Ukraine has been actively involved in shaping the green transition strategy. An important impetus for this development was the European Commission’s proposal for the Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which led to the development of the Ukrainian Green Deal in 2020/2021.

Plans were approved to implement the Ukrainian Emissions Trading System (UA ETS) by 2026, which is in line with EU commitments and potentially exempts Ukrainian exporters from CBAM payments depending on carbon pricing.

Despite the initial declarations, further political and expert dialog is considered necessary to assess the current and medium-term opportunities and risks associated with the implementation of the ETS. Cooperation with the EU remains key to address this issue, two expert discussions will be organized in the form of roundtables.

Capacities for Climate Action Project invites business representatives to participate in a roundtable, which aims to find out the needs, expectations and concerns of the industry regarding CBAM, laying the groundwork for effective stakeholder engagement and policy oversight.

Capacities for Climate Action (C4CA) project / Ukrainian Climate Office, is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and co-funded by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) under the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
